Mansehra Public School & College is an Educational Institution which is recognized by Department of Education, Khyber Pakhtunhwa and affiliated with Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad. The institution is working for catering the educational needs of students from Grade Pre-Nursery to Grade 12.
Institution is situated in Mansehra, which is approx. 3400 feet above the sea level and has an excellent and moderate temperature throughout the year. In winter there is occasional and mild snow fall, and in summer the temperature does not exceed 38oC. The institution is situated in the heart of the city with easy access from all over the city. The location and the beautiful building with all the modern facilities make it a fascinating and ideal sight for the situation.
Institution started its working in 1987. Prior to it, a prestigious institution of elementary/secondary education was the long felt need of the inhabitants of Mansehra District in general and that of Mansehrites in particular.
As no Educational Institution of the type of Public School existed in Mansehra at that time, so most of the parents desirous of imparting quality education to their children were compelled to make recourse to the educational institutions outside Mansehra District. Students both male and female had to undergo considerable hardships to travel between Abbottabad and Mansehra and incur huge expenditures on education for studies in other parts of the country. A road accident also become a more compelling reason in which a Van carrying students from Mansehra to Abbottabad was hit by a truck in which driver and a female student lost their lives on the spot while many students suffered severe injuries. Two children of Shahjehan Khan Swati were also present in that unfortunate Van.
At that time Mr. Shahjehan Khan Swati took cognizance of the need to provide quality education at the doorstep to students of Mansehra and arranged to meet it by starting this institution. The foundation stone of Mansehra Public School was laid down by Mr. Ejaz Rahim, the then Commissioner of Hazara Division in September 1986. It was inaugurated on 11th March 1987 by Mr. Fida Muhammad Khan, the then Governor of N.W.F.P. Initially school was started up to Primary level, it was later extended to Secondary level and then to Higher Secondary level.
